
METHODOLOGY – PUBLIC ACADEMIES OF APPLIED SCIENCES AND STATE HIGHER VOCATIONAL SCHOOLS PERSPEKTYWY RANKING 2023
Public Academies of Applied Sciences and State Higher Vocational Schools Perspektywy Ranking 2024 includes all universities from the PUZ – state vocational schools group (established on the basis of the Act of 26 June 1997 on Higher Vocational Schools), having at least two years of graduates and minimum 200 enrolled full-time and part-time students. 100 points means the best result within a given indicator.
REPUTATION - 10%
- Academic reputation – a number of indications based on the survey conducted among academic staff (full professors as well as PhDs with habilitation, who have obtained their academic titles in the years 2019-2023. The survey takes also into account votes cast in the previous year. It was completed by Perspektywy Education Foundation in the CAWI method and institutions were split into three groups (academic universities, private universities and state higher vocational schools). EMPLOYABILITY - 25%
- Alumni earnings - CHANGE IN METHODOLOGY: the indicator reflects the position of graduates on the labor market - according to the nationwide study of the "Polish Graduate Tracking System" (ELA) by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education based on the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) data. Data includes alumni earnings in 2022 (note: due to the change in the method of determining the indicator value, the current edition of the ranking includes the average of the indicator values measured in accordance with the new and previous methods, which took into account alumni earnings in the first year after graduation). - Alumni employment - CHANGE IN METHODOLOGY: indicator reflects the average length of employment of graduates of a given university from 2018-2021 - according to the nationwide study the "Polish Graduate Tracking System" (ELA) by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education based on the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) data. The data refer to unemployment rates in the counties of residence of graduates (note: due to a change in the method of determining the indicator value, the current edition of the ranking includes the average of the indicator values measured in accordance with the new and previous methods, which took into account the employment of graduates in the first year after graduation). ACADEMIC POTENTIAL - 20%
- Parametric evaluation – the sum of rating (categories) of individual disciplines assessed by the Committee for Scientific Evaluation (KEN) weighted by the number of full time academic staff activity in the evaluated disciplines (the so-called N number) and related to the total number of these employees. - Academic staff with highest qualifications - defined as the ratio of the number of professors and PhDs with habilitation to the total number of teaching staff employed as of 31.12.2023. Source: POL-on database. (6%)
- Faculty development - measured by the ratio of academic titles and degrees obtained by university staff in 2022 and 2023 (PhDs weighted 1.0, PhDs with habilitation weighted 1.5 and full professors weighted 2.0) in relation to the total number of academic staff - professors and doctoral degrees employed full-time as of the end of year. - Rights to confer PhD degrees and PhD with habilitation degree – measured by the weighted sum of rights to confer PhD with habilitation degree (2 points for each discipline university is entitled to, 3 points for each discipline university conferred PhD degree, and 3 points for each discipline university conferred PhD degree with habilitation) as of 31.12.2023. - Teaching staff - ratio of the number of academic teaching full-time staff (PhDs weighted 1.4, PhDs with habilitation weighted 1.7 and full professors weighted 2.0) to the total number of students (full-time students included with a weight of 1.0; part-time students with a weight of 0.6) as of 31.12.2023. - External funding for research – CHANGE IN THE METHODOLOGY: measured by the ratio of the total funding obtained for research and development from outside in 2022-2023 to the total number of research and research/teaching staff as of the end of year. The indicator reflects the differences in research cost intensity between scientific disciplines (note: due to the change in the method of determining the indicator value, the current ranking edition measured the average of the indicator values calculated in accordance with the new and previous method, which did not take into account the differences in research cost intensity between scientific disciplines).
