The school was established in 1995, the application for its establishment was submitted by Prof. Dr. Jan Misiak, who was the Rector of the school for many years and is currently its President.

The School provides education in full-time (full-time studies) and part-time (extramural studies) bachelor's, engineering and master's degree programs. Education at WSEiZ takes place within two faculties: the Faculty of Architecture and the Faculty of Engineering and Management, in 11 fields of study. 

The university has more than 2,800 students, 57 percent of whom are women, and 12 percent are foreigners.   

551 students left the university building last year. In the 2023/2024 academic year, 801 male and female students began their studies.  

The College of Ecology and Management employs 92 full-time academic staff, 40 percent of whom are women.
