Description: Akademia Śląska, formerly Wyższa Szkoła Techniczna in Katowice, was founded in 2003 by Arkadiusz Holda. It is the first non-public higher education institution in Silesia to offer technical and artistic studies at the Faculty of Architecture, Construction and Applied Arts, with courses in Architecture, Construction, Mechatronics and Computer Science, Graphics, Interior Design and Design. At the Prof. Zbigniew Religa Faculty of Medical Sciences, established in 2018, one can get an education in Nursing, Emergency Medical Services and medical direction, and at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, in Management. The university has nearly 2,900 students, 62 percent of whom are women, and 4 percent are foreigners. 411 students left the university building last year. In the 2023/2024 academic year, 1147 male and female students began their studies. The Silesian Academy employs 296 full-time academic staff, 51 percent of whom are women.
