The Higher School of Economics and Humanities was established in 1997 under the original name of Higher School of Marketing and Management, using the premises and material base and experience of THE TOP College.

Dynamic development and the creation of two new faculties in the humanities - philology and political science - led to the change of the name to the Higher School of Economics and Humanities. The University is still connected by close cooperation with College THE TOP, which, as the oldest language school in Podbeskidzie and co-founder of WSEH, has passed on its rich experience and traditions to the University. The Higher School of Economics and Humanities has become a pioneer in Podbeskidzie in terms of providing humanistic majors.

Since its inception, it has placed special emphasis in its educational program on knowledge of European sciences, foreign languages and professional practice, which in the new conditions of Poland's membership in the European Union is particularly important for the University's graduates, as well as for the region and the country. WSEH is a supra-regional University where students from all over the country and abroad study.

There are currently 202 students at the University, 65.3 percent of whom are women, and 6.4 percent are foreigners.

112 graduates left the university building last year. In the 2023/2024 academic year, 77 male and female students began their studies, including 8 foreigners.

The university employs 19 full-time academic staff, almost 42 percent of whom are women.
