Description: The University of Bialystok is the largest university in north-eastern Poland, both in terms of the number of staff and students and the faculties and forms of teaching offered. The University provides education in the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences, as well as in doctoral and postgraduate studies. Every year, it carries out dozens of scientific projects financed by national and international funds. It is a regional leader in obtaining grants from the National Science Centre. UwB's employees obtain internationally significant patents, cooperate with renowned research centres in the country and the world, and participate in projects of global reach. The university currently has almost 8,000 students, 68.5 per cent of whom are women and 6.5 per cent are foreigners. More than 2,200 graduates left the university building last year. In the 2023/2024 academic year, more than 3.3 thousand male and female students started their studies, including 288 foreigners. The university employs 729 full-time academic staff, almost 60 per cent of whom are women. The University of Bialystok graduated, among others, Angelika Borys Polish activist of the Polish minority in Belarus, political prisoner.
