Description: Maria Curie-Sklodowska University in Lublin is the largest public university in Poland on the eastern side of the Vistula River. It was established in 1944. MCS provides education at 12 faculties in Lublin, nearly 90 fields of study and about 300 specialties. Every year it offers new educational paths to candidates. There are currently 120 scientific circles and university-wide organizations at MCS. It also educates doctoral students within the framework of three Doctoral Schools: the Doctoral School of the Humanities, the Doctoral School of the Social Sciences and the Doctoral School of the Natural and Scientific Sciences. It currently conducts research in 24 scientific disciplines that are evaluated at the university. It also has an offer of postgraduate studies, most of which are carried out in cooperation with partners from the socio-economic environment. The university currently has nearly 15,600 students, 67 percent of whom are women, and 10.7 percent are foreigners, who come from almost all over the world, including Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. More than 4,600 graduates left the university building last year. In the 2023/2024 academic year, more than 7.6 thousand male and female students began their studies, including 861 foreigners. The university employs 1,435 full-time academic staff, 55 percent of whom are women. Prominent figures who have studied within the university's walls include Wanda Brzyska, a chemist; Urszula, a rock singer; Jerome Wrona, a journalist and TV and radio presenter; Anna Moskwa, a civil servant and economist; and Dorota Gardias, a TV presenter.
