Czestochowa University of Technology was founded in 1949 as an Engineering School with a single Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, where 160 students began studying in October. In 1955, the university was transformed into Częstochowa University of Technology.

The university educates at 6 faculties: Faculty of Construction, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Infrastructure and Environment, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science, Faculty of Production Engineering and Materials Technology and Faculty of Management. It also offers studies in English, education on a multimedia e-learning platform.

There are more than 60 scientific circles at the university, in which students develop and deepen their interests.

The polytechnic currently has more than 5,400 students, 30.5 percent of whom are women, and 12.5 percent are foreigners.

Almost 1.5 thousand graduates left the university building last year. In the 2023/2024 academic year, nearly 2.3 thousand male and female students began their studies, including 279 foreigners.

The university employs 605 full-time academic staff, of which more than 45.6 percent are women. Research achievements and inventions of scientists at Częstochowa University of Technology have won recognition at International Innovation Exhibitions held in many countries.

Czestochowa University of Technology graduates include Danuta Nowicka - politician, trade union activist and metallurgical engineer, deputy to the Sejm of the eighth and ninth terms; Adam Malysz - ski jumper and rally driver, Piotr Wozniak - politician, economist, academic teacher and local government official, senator of the eleventh term, or Pawel Szataniak - manager and entrepreneur.
