Description: The Stanislaw Staszic Academy of Mining and Metallurgy in Krakow, founded in 1919, is one of the largest and oldest technical universities in Poland. AGH offers studies in a wide range of majors and specializations, often unique in the country. These include the traditional ones related to the exploration, extraction and processing of mineral resources, as well as those related to cutting-edge technology and engineering, currently dominating the university's offerings. The studies at AGH are multi-level and are conducted according to principles that allow the student himself to determine the program of study individually.
The university includes, among others, 17 faculties, a research center - the Academic Center for Materials and Nanotechnology - and teaching centers. It is one of 10 Polish universities with the status of a research university.
The university has entered into more than 280 general cooperation agreements with universities around the world. AGH cooperates with more than 60 countries. To date, most agreements have been signed with universities from Ukraine, France, the People's Republic of China and the United States.
The academy has nearly 18,000 students, 32.8 percent of whom are women, and 2.4 percent are foreigners.
More than 5.3 thousand graduates left the academy building last year. In the 2023/2024 academic year, nearly 6.5 thousand male and female students began their studies, including 182 foreigners.
The university employs 2,048 full-time academic staff, almost 31 percent of whom are women.
