Opole Technical University was established in 1996 as a result of the transformation of the Higher School of Engineering, which had been operating since 1966, into a Technical University.

It educates students in 22 faculties, in full-time and part-time studies. For several years, Opole Technical University has been an interdisciplinary university with a predominance of technical majors. Here you can study typically technical disciplines such as construction or computer science, but also administration, economics, physiotherapy or architecture. It has six faculties and a Language Center.

The Polytechnic is famous for its modern and innovative laboratories. Specialized equipment allows scientists and students to simulate earthquakes, study high voltages and infrasound, among other things. The Polytechnic offers students a number of attractive courses and classes as part of the Confucius Institute (Center for Poland-China Cooperation), which promotes knowledge about the Middle Kingdom.

The polytechnic currently has more than 4,600 students, 30 percent of whom are women and 8.6 percent are foreigners.

Nearly 1,200 graduates left the university building last year. In the 2023/2024 academic year, 1.9 thousand male and female students began their studies, including 216 foreigners.

The university employs 385 full-time academic staff, 41 percent of whom are women.

Opole University of Technology graduates include Grzegorz Zawiślak - entrepreneur, local government official, mayor of Prudnik, Łukasz Mikołajczyk - politician, teacher and local government official, administrative director of the President Stanisław Wojciechowski Kaliska Academy.
