Description: The Jan and Jędrzej Śniadecki University of Technology in Bydgoszcz is a university with several decades of tradition. Its beginnings are associated with the establishment in 1951, the first higher academic institution in Bydgoszcz - the Evening School of Engineering. In the initial period of its operation, the university educated chemical and mechanical engineers in the evening system. After it was transformed into the University of Engineering, from 1964, education at 4 technical faculties was conducted in the full-time, evening and extramural system. The university educates bachelor's, engineer's, master's and doctoral students. It is the only university in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian region integrating technical, natural, agricultural, economic and artistic sciences. It cooperates with many universities and research centers almost all over the world. The university currently has more than 5,300 students, 44 percent of whom are women, and 1.4 percent are foreigners. Almost 1,300 graduates left the university building last year. In the 2023/2024 academic year, 1.9 thousand male and female students began their studies, including 38 foreigners. The university employs 546 full-time academic staff, more than 44 percent of whom are women. Among the graduates of Bydgoszcz University of Technology are Robert Marcin Obaz - politician, entrepreneur and social activist, MP for the ninth parliamentary term, or Sebastian Franciszek Filipek-Kaźmierczak - economist, agronomist, manager, civil servant, trade union activist and politician, deputy minister of agriculture and rural development in 2006-2007.
