Description: The history of the University of Life Sciences in Lublin begins in 1944. As part of the newly established Maria Curie-Sklodowska University in Lublin, among others, the Faculty of Agriculture and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine were established, followed in 1953 by the Faculty of Zootechnics. The first year of study in the academic year 1944/1945 began with 150 students. The graduation diploma was awarded to 7 veterinarians. The university currently develops didactics and conducts scientific research in three key areas: techniques, technologies and organization of food production, shaping and protection of the human living environment, health, healthy lifestyle. Students are educated within 7 faculties in 39 majors (including unique majors in Poland) and dozens of specialties. Currently, the university has a silent 6,400 students, 66.7 percent of whom are women, and 3.5 percent are foreigners. Last year, 1,798 graduates left the university building. In the 2023/2024 academic year, more than 2.1 thousand male and female students began their studies, including 95 foreigners. The university employs 631 full-time academic staff, almost 60 percent of whom are women. Among the graduates of the University of Life Sciences in Lublin are Tadeusz Lasocki - politician, entrepreneur, MP for the Sejm of the first term, Stanisław Adamiak - engineer, entrepreneur, honorary consul of Ukraine in Chelm, or Andrzej Maj - local government officer and official, from 2013 to 2018 starosta of the Kraśnik district, from 2024 vice governor of Lublin.
