Description: Poznań University of Life Sciences is a university with more than 100 years of tradition of academic agricultural and forestry studies and 70 years of functioning as an autonomous entity. In its history, it traces its academic traditions back to 1870, when, through the efforts of August Cieszkowski, the Halina Agricultural College was established in Żabików near Poznań. Poznan University of Life Sciences educates students in thirty diverse, fields of study. Biotechnology, dietetics, food technology and human nutrition, forestry, finance and accounting, spatial management, eco-energetics, landscape architecture and veterinary science have been popular for years. Young people are also interested in new majors: bioplastic engineering, agricultural engineering, applied computer science. The educational programs are innovative, taking into account modern ecological solutions and the necessary biological, IT and social knowledge. The university also offers a wide range of third-degree studies implemented at all faculties, as well as the opportunity to study at this level in English. The university currently has nearly 6,800 students, 57.8 percent of whom are women, and 5 percent are foreigners. Almost 2 thousand graduates left the university building last year. In the 2023/2024 academic year, more than 2.8 thousand male and female students began their studies, including 258 foreigners. The university employs 735 full-time academic staff, 48.4 percent of whom are women. The University of Life Sciences in Poznań graduated, among others, Henryk Stokłosa - an entrepreneur who prospered in the agri-food processing industry, senator, politician.
