Description: It is a university with a 50-year tradition. It was established in Siedlce in 1969 as the Higher School of Teachers. Over time, it changed the nature of its mission, transforming successively into the Higher School of Pedagogy and then into the Higher School of Agriculture and Pedagogy. On October 1, 1999, the university was transformed into Podlaska Academy. There are five faculties: Faculty of Agrobioengineering and Animal Sciences, Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Science and Life Sciences, it offers almost 40 majors of both general and practical profile. The university also offers studies in English in 3 fields of study-mathematics, national security and management. It also offers doctoral studies and a Doctoral School in six disciplines: biological sciences, chemical sciences, history, security sciences, agriculture and horticulture, zootechnics and fisheries. It is the first university in Poland to introduce inclusive education for students with disabilities. The university currently has nearly 4,400 students, 64 percent of whom are women, and 4.8 percent are foreigners. Last year, 1,369 graduates left the university building. In the 2023/2024 academic year, 2158 male and female students began their studies, including 100 foreigners. The university employs 363 academic teachers, 54.7 percent of whom are women. The university's graduates include: Zdzisław Ćmoch - publicist, poet, painter, historian-regionalist, social activist, Ryszard Mićko - civil servant and local government official, zootechnician, in 2011-2015 Deputy Governor of West Pomerania, Marek Sawicki - politician and agricultural engineer, Member of Parliament, or Leszek Surawski - retired General of the Polish Army. In 2017-2018, Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Army.
