Description: The oldest and most prestigious economic university in Poland - its history dates back to 1906. Thanks to this, each student decides not only on his or her course of study, but also on the choice of subjects and lecturers. According to his or her interests, he or she is also free to choose classes in other fields of study.
There are currently more than 9,200 students at SGH, 49 percent of whom are women, and more than 10 percent are foreigners.
More than 2.8 thousand graduates left the university building last year. In the 2023/2024 academic year, nearly 4.3 thousand male and female students began their studies, including 470 foreigners.
The university employs 746 full-time academics, almost 50 percent of whom are women.
Prominent figures who have been educated within the university's walls include: Leszek Balcerowicz - Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Finance, President of the National Bank of Poland, Henryka Bochniarz - Minister of Industry and Trade in Jan Krzysztof Bielecki's government, Marek Borowski - Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Finance in Waldemar Pawlak's government, Andrzej Witold Halicki - Minister of Administration and Digitization in Ewa Kopacz's government, Grzegorz Witold Kolodko - Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Finance, Zygmunt Marian Broniarek - columnist, journalist, Ewa Klobukowska - sprinter, economist.
