Description: The University of Economics in Poznan was established in 1926 as the Higher School of Commerce. In 1938, the University's name was changed to the Academy of Commerce and it was granted the right to confer degrees. In 1950, it was nationalized and renamed the Higher School of Economics. Since 1974, the university has operated under the name Academy of Economics. On December 27, 2008, it formally received the status of a university and its final name - Poznań University of Economics. The Poznań University of Economics is one of the top Polish economic universities. As a research and teaching center, it also enjoys a great reputation abroad. It specializes in educating business leaders, highly qualified managers, economic experts and employees of government and local administration services. UEP students can study in 18 majors and more than 50 specialties. The university currently has nearly 7,400 students, 53 percent of whom are women, and 8.3 percent are foreigners. Nearly 2,400 graduates left the university building last year. In the 2023/2024 academic year, more than 3.6 thousand male and female students began their studies, including 335 foreigners. The university employs 465 full-time academic staff, 53 percent of whom are women.
