Description: The University of Economics in Wroclaw was established in 1947. The precursor was the Higher School of Commerce, established on the initiative and ownership of the Society for the Promotion of Economic and Commercial Sciences in Wroclaw. The staff consisted mainly of former lecturers from Jan Kazimierz University and the Academy of Foreign Trade in Lviv and Stefan Batory University in Vilnius. Currently, the university offers 11 majors in Polish and 4 programs in English, a Doctoral School and doctoral studies for foreigners. Also highly successful are: Economic Children's University, University of the Third Age and Stock Exchange School. More than seventy student and scientific organizations are active at the university The university is not only a major research center in economic and management sciences, but also one of the largest economic schools in the country, and plays an important role in the education of economists, research and work for the economy. It is also an active partner in international scientific and teaching relations. The university currently has nearly 8,900 students, 56.6 percent of whom are women, and 4.1 percent are foreigners. 3 thousand graduates left the university building last year. In the 2023/2024 academic year, more than 4.3 thousand male and female students began their studies, including 185 foreigners. The university employs 521 full-time academic staff, more than 56 percent of whom are women.
