Jan Długosz University in Częstochowa is a public university with a well-established tradition of nearly 50 years. The history of the university dates back to 1971. At that time, thanks to the decision of the Council of Ministers, the Higher School of Teachers in Częstochowa was established. In 1974 it was transformed into the Higher School of Pedagogy in Częstochowa.

Today it is one of the most important universities in the region. It offers nearly 60 first and second degree programs in the humanities, medical and health sciences, engineering and technology, pedagogy, social sciences, law, science, natural sciences and the arts.

The University offers training at the Doctoral School in 13 disciplines: chemistry, philosophy, physics, history, linguistics, literary studies, pedagogy, musical arts, and fine arts and art conservation, as well as the sciences: legal, health, security, and physical culture. The university offers candidates and students nearly 35 forms of postgraduate study, as well as numerous courses and training.

The university currently has nearly 5,600 students, 72.5 percent of whom are women, and 4.8 percent are foreigners.

The university building last year saw 1107 graduates leave. In the 2023/2024 academic year, 2907 male and female students began their studies, including 98 foreigners.

The university employs 441 academic staff, 52.8 percent of whom are women.

The university's graduates include: Jakub Blaszczykowski - football player, national representative or Marcin Najman - MMA fighter, fighter and kick boxer.
