The University of Pomerania in Slupsk was established in 1969 under the name of the Teacher Training College. The base for the Teacher Training College was the Teacher Training College, which had existed since 1957.

The educational offer of the university includes social, medical, natural science, pedagogical, mathematical, technical, engineering and economic faculties, which are conducted in both full-time and part-time systems.

The university currently has more than 3,500 students, 63.6 percent of whom are women, and 23.3 percent are foreigners.

711 graduates left the university building last year. In the 2023/2024 academic year, 1,656 male and female students began their studies, including 356 foreigners.

The university employs 328 academic staff, 51 percent of whom are women.

The university's graduates include: Dominik Piotr Żyburtowicz - poet, Bogumiła Żongołłowicz - journalist, poet, writer, PhD in the humanities, or Monika Stanny - economist and geographer, PhD in economic sciences, professor at the Institute of Rural and Agricultural Development of the Polish Academy of Sciences, director of the Institute of Rural and Agricultural Development of the Polish Academy of Sciences, specialist in spatial socio-economic development and local and regional development.
