Karol Marcinkowski Medical University in Poznań - a state university of medical profile established in 1950 in Poznań as a result of the transformation of the Faculty of Medicine with the Faculty of Dentistry and the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Poznań; since 1984 it has borne the name of Karol Marcinkowski.

The university is the founding body for 4 teaching hospitals: Heliodor Święcicki Clinical Hospital, Gynecological and Obstetrical Clinical Hospital, Wiktor Dega Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Clinical Hospital and Karol Jonscher Clinical Hospital.

Students are educated at 4 faculties: the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Faculty of Pharmacy, the Faculty of Medicine, and the Faculty of Medicine.

The university currently has more than 7,300 students, 73.5 percent of whom are women, and 9.6 percent are foreigners.

More than 1,500 graduates left the university building last year. In the 2023/2024 academic year, nearly 2,000 male and female students began their studies, including 117 foreigners.

The university employs 1,000 full-time academic staff, more than 62 percent of whom are women.
