Description: The university's history dates back to the post-war years, when in 1946 the Faculty of Medicine was established at the combined University and Technical University of Wroclaw. In 1950 it was transformed into the Medical University, and in 2012 it became the Piasts of Silesia Medical University. Currently, the Medical University of Wroclaw educates students in medicine and medicine-dentistry (also in English), pharmacy, medical analysis, nursing, midwifery, paramedicine, physiotherapy, dietetics and public health, in addition to doctoral and postgraduate students. Students prepare for practical work with patients at the University Clinical Hospital, ranked among the largest and most modern clinical facilities in Poland. Thanks to the Medical Simulation Center, state-of-the-art laboratories, or the VR lab, students can gain their first medical skills, which will come in handy during the many hours of work with patients under the supervision of qualified teaching staff. The university currently has nearly 6,400 students, 73.3 percent of whom are women, and more than 13 percent are foreigners. More than 1.2 thousand graduates left the university building last year. In the 2023/2024 academic year, nearly 1.7 thousand male and female students began their studies, including 190 foreigners. The university employs 1,057 full-time academic staff, more than 62 percent of whom are women. The Medical University of Wroclaw graduated, among others, Michalina Wisłocka - a physician, sexologist.
