Description: The John Paul II Biala Academy is a public vocational university that provides education in practical studies. The academy was established in 2000 as the State Higher Vocational School, and changed its name to the current one in 2023. From the beginning, the task of the Biala Academy was to provide education that takes into account the needs of the socio-economic environment. In the pursuit of academia, its mission is to educate young people at a high level of quality in first-, second-cycle studies with particular emphasis on the field of health sciences with majors in physiotherapy, nursing, medical rescue, tourism and recreation, public health, as well as economic and social sciences, and to initiate and conduct scientific research, including activities for the development of the city and the region. The university currently has more than 1,900 students, 60.3 percent of whom are women, and 15.2 percent are foreigners. 481 graduates left the university building last year. In the 2023/2024 academic year, 816 male and female students began their studies, including 128 foreigners. The university employs 158 full-time academic staff, more than 63.3 percent of whom are women.
