Description: On August 1, 1998, the Gorzow Higher Vocational School in Gorzow Wielkopolski was established. In 2009, the university merged with the non-public Higher Vocational School of Information Technology. This resulted in the establishment of the Technical Institute, which conducts the fields of computer science and mechanics and machine construction. The authorities of the university, with the support of the provincial authorities, took steps to merge with the Intersite Faculty of Physical Culture of the Poznań University of Physical Education to create the Gorzów Academy, the transformation took place on September 1, 2016. Currently, the academy has five faculties: Administration and National Security, Economics, Humanities, Technical, Health Sciences, with departments and faculties within them. Students can study in 21 undergraduate, engineering and master's degree programs, in the fields of engineering and technology, humanities, social sciences, and medical and health sciences. The academy runs a Doctoral School, where future PhDs in mechanical engineering, linguistics and pedagogy can be trained. There are currently a silent 1,800 students at the academy, 56 percent of whom are women, and 6.5 percent are foreigners. 526 graduates left the university building last year. In the 2023/2024 academic year, 788 male and female students began their studies, including 59 foreigners. The academy employs 214 full-time academic staff, more than 51 percent of whom are women. The academy's graduates include Andrzej Bocheński - politician, local government official, 1999-2006 marshal of the Lubuskie Voivodeship, Milena Olszewska - disabled archer, two-time Paralympic Games bronze medalist, world and European champion, or Jacek Piotr Wójcicki - local government official, 2006-2014 mayor of Deszczno municipality, since 2014 mayor of Gorzów Wielkopolski.
