Academy of Applied Sciences in Nowy Sacz - the university began its activities on July 1, 1998 on the basis of the Decree of the Council of Ministers of June 16, 1998 on the establishment of the State Higher Vocational School in Nowy Sacz.

At that time, three institutes were established: the Economic Institute; the Foreign Language Institute on the basis of the Teacher Training College; and the Pedagogical Institute on the basis of the Teacher Training College.

In the 1998/1999 academic year, 458 students began their studies in 8 educational specialties

Students can currently begin their studies at 6 faculties: Faculty of Economic Sciences, Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Physical Culture and Security Sciences, Faculty of Social Sciences and Arts, Faculty of Engineering Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.

The university currently has more than 2,900 students, nearly 61 percent of whom are women, and 0.6 percent are foreigners.

901 graduates left the university building last year. In the 2023/2024 academic year, 1,095 male and female students began their studies, including 8 foreigners.

The university employs 193 academic teachers, 56 percent of whom are women.
