Tarnów Academy was founded in 1998 as the country's first State Higher Vocational School.

They started with eight specializations in first degree studies, and now the didactic offer includes 31 majors in first and second degree studies and uniform master's studies. 

The Academy has six faculties: Faculty of Administration and Economics, Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Health Care, Faculty of Polytechnics, Faculty of Arts.

The university currently has nearly 3,500 students, 65 percent of whom are women, and 1.3 percent are foreigners.

The university's building last year saw 1147 graduates leave. In the 2023/2024 academic year, 1,624 male and female students began their studies, including 35 foreigners. 

The university employs 188 full-time academic staff, almost 50 percent of whom are women.
