Description: Bohaterów Westerplatte Naval Academy - was founded in 1922. The institution is supervised by the Minister of Defense. It is descended from the Provisional Instructor Courses for Officers, the Naval Officers School, the Naval Officer Cadet School and the Naval Academy. Currently, military students study five majors: navigation, mechanics and mechanical engineering, mechatronics, information technology and security information systems. Civilian students have fourteen majors to choose from: navigation, marine hydrography, computer science, mechanics and mechanical engineering, automation and robotics, mechatronics, national security, homeland security, security in transportation, shipping and logistics, information systems in security, international relations, military in the public service system, human capital management and pedagogy. Within the walls of AMW, students and trainees acquire not only knowledge, but also practical skills, as the university is equipped with a large number of simulators and laboratories. At the students' disposal are, among others, simulators for GMDSS, navigation, ship's engine rooms, submarine weapons and artillery. There are currently a silent 1,600 students at the university, 43 percent of whom are women, and 0.5 percent are foreigners. 422 graduates left the university building last year. In the 2023/2024 academic year, 828 male and female students began their studies, including 3 foreigners. The university employs 230 full-time academic staff, almost 26 percent of whom are women.
